Stop answering the phone. Your riders will thank you.

The club phone rings during lessons, during grooming, during the lunch break that no longer exists. You answer, because “it might be a sign-up”. And you interrupt what you were paid to do, for something a web page does better.

The phone is the worst channel, for everyone

For you, every call is an interruption: a lesson chopped up, concentration broken, a note scribbled in the corner of a diary that will have to be typed up, or forgotten. For the rider it is worse: they call three times, get no answer, and end up doing nothing.

The paradox is cruel: the harder you work to answer, the more unreachable you seem, because every call taken during a lesson is ten calls missed during the day.

What your riders actually want

They do not want to talk to you: they want a place in Saturday's lesson. The conversation is not the service; it is the obstacle between them and the service. Look at how they book everything else in their lives: without calling anyone.

To try this week: count your calls honestly for three days. Note how many were about a booking, a time or a price, three pieces of information an online page gives better than you do.

Answer less, serve better

Stopping answering the phone does not mean becoming unreachable: it means saving your voice for the conversations that deserve it, and handing the logistics to a tool that never gets it wrong and never sleeps.
