If you are ill for a week, does your club stay standing?

Prune's worming, the old gelding's ration, who rides Caramel on Saturday, the Martin family's cheque: it is all in your head. You are the club's hard drive, and nobody has made a backup.

The owner-as-hard-drive syndrome

It starts as a quality: you know every horse and every rider by heart. But that admirable memory has a hidden cost: nothing works without you.

The brutal test: imagine yourself unreachable for seven days, phone switched off. List everything that would go wrong: care forgotten, lessons unfilled, invoices unsent.

Outsourcing your memory, job by job

The care: every protocol (vaccinations, worming, teeth, shoeing) entered once with its cycle; the reminders warn the right person at the right moment, whether you are there or not. The rations and instructions: on each horse's record, visible to the whole team from a phone. No more whiteboard washed off by the rain. The diary and the mounting board: visible to the instructors AND the riders, with the yard screen showing the day. The money: invoicing and reminders running automatically, without waiting for your return.

Every piece of information taken out of your head is a decision your team can now make alone. And contrary to the usual fear, you do not lose control: you gain the overall view.

The bonus nobody thinks of: what your business is worth

A club that only works with its owner is worth no more than its equipment. A documented club, where the processes run and the information is organised, is a business you can hand on to an employee, to a child, to a buyer. Outsourcing your memory is not only about getting your holidays back: it is about building, at last, something that will outlive you. And if your phone still rings too much, read this too: stop being at your riders' beck and call.

Take your head out of the system

Care, rations, mounting board, invoices: the club's memory inside Equimondo, free for life.
